Im having trouble falling asleep and staying alseep and I heard someone say they took melatonin. It was also prescribed for my sisters daughter. Can someone help me out here? | | do you take melatonin to help you sleep | | from what i understand melatonin is the chemical that your brain produces to make you go to sleep. the day light keeps it from producing. so at night you release melatonin and you sleep. well they can extract melatonin from plants and you can buy it at your handy dandy walmart. i love taking melatonin. it gives me such a restful sleep and makes me have crazy vivid dreams. its really addictive though to some people and its recommended that you dont take it every day. i have seen it suggested to do a rotating schedual. like 4 days and take a day off or 4 weeks and take a week off.i dont take it that often. only when i have had trouble with my sleep for a while or if i am really stressed out. something about the way it helps me dream helps with my stress level. come to think about it maybe i should take about 4 or 5 nights of it. i could use it.do you have any experience with melatonin? please share here!!! | |

| Melatonin?? | | My freind who has a horrible time falling asleep was taking tylenol pms at night. I suggested she call and ask her doctor if he had any ideas of anything that might help. He told her to get some Melatonin. Has anyone heard of this of take it for sleep? She knows nothing about it and is a bit nervous to take it. | | My nine year old has sleep issues would melatonin be able to help? | | My nine year old has had difficulties staying asleep at night. We have tried many different things to help her with this problem. It's off and on she can go for a month or 2 sleeping fine then she'll be up due to "bad dreams" or just unable to go back to sleep.We have a white noise machine her room which helps her get to sleep at night and a firm bedtime routine in place. bath,reading,song, and sleep. we've tried a later bedtime and more physical activity during the day. None of which work consistently. So I was wondering if trying her on melatonin might be a good option as it is a natural substance your body releases anyway. Several friends have suggested it I was wondering on how you felt about it.I would appreciate any feed back you might have. | |

I don't know if it's all in my head, but it seems to really work for me. I am able to fall into a deeper sleep than I do without it. So, has anyone else used it? Did you notice a difference? | |
| | Have you tried taking Melatonin to help you sleep | | I was recently advised to try taking melatonin pills to help me get to sleep. I'm having a really rough time falling and staying asleep and am generally sleeping every other day now. I might catch 2 or 3 hours a night. Someone said these pills will naturally regulate my sleep. I've been taking them for 4 days now but it only helped the first day. I am not really keep on taking these pills because I'm very anti-medication, but I am getting desperate to get back to a regular sleeping pattern. I was open to try these pills because they are supposed to be a natural remedy, it's a natural hormone our body produces to help us sleep. What are your thoughts and experiences taking melatonin? | |

Suggest if you must have a nite light, have a very small, conventional one, in a floor outlet, as far away from sleeping area as possible. | |

I take Melatonin for sleep, and I was just curious if anyone else has really vivid, outlandish, and sometimes incomprehensible dreams? Ever since about a month after starting it, I would have these just, insane dreams, and I could never figure out why. Perhaps it's just the fact that I'm sleeping through the night, instead of only getting five, or six hours of interupted sleep? | |
